In working with adolescents, I strive to de-stigmatize the therapeutic process as much as possible. My goal is always to meet my clients where they are at, and to go from there. I find that the most effective treatment comes from building a great deal of trust between therapist and client, particularly in my adolescent work, and especially when my client is not necessarily coming into my practice on his/her own volition. Therapy can, for some denote a cold detachment and so I like to think of my work with younger clients with the word ‘mentorship’ in mind. Hence, therapeutic mentorship :)
